Nethy Bridge- Grantown On Spey
This is a lovely, straightforward walk which takes in some of the most scenic views across Strathspey. The walk follows a track of a dismantled railway along a section of The Speyside Way.
The walk begins at Nethy Bridge and heads north-east towards Grantown On Spey, joining up with the River Spey roughly three miles into the walk. In times gone by loose logs would have been transported down this section of the river, Canadian-style. The walk is clearly marked by thistle way- markers along the entire route. Looking to the south-east there are some fantastic views of the Cairngorms and the deep Northern Corries.
It is worth paying a visit to the picturesque Broomhill Station, which doubles as Glenbogle Station in the BBC TV drama ?Monarch of the Glen?. From here it is also possible to take the steam train into Boat of Garten and Aviemore.
In Grantown On Spey you will be met by plenty of opportunities for some well earned refreshments. The end section of the walk also passes Revack Estate which offers an array of visitor attractions including a walled garden, ornamental lochs, gift shop and restaurant all set within 350 acres of outstanding scenery.
