Stac Pollaidh
With its recently constructed footpath, Stac Pollaidh offers a challenge for many levels of walking enthusiasts. From the keen mountaineer to the active walker looking for a challenge, the summit and high ridge of Stac Pollaigh is home to some of the most breathtaking views of the North West Highlands Geopark.
If sticking to the footpath, the walk round the ridge of Stac Pollaidh entails a height gain of 550m and a distance of 6km with some perfect wild 'picnic spots' to enjoy a much needed packed lunch before beginning your decent.
For those up for a little more of a challenge, the summit requires essential scrambling experience and is not for the faint hearted. However,it is very much worth the effort in order to experience the extensive views across Loch Lurgainn, Suilven and across the Summer Isles.
A car park is situated at the base of the hill and start of the walk. Accessed by minor road 5 miles from the A835 north of Ullapool leading towards Achiltibuie.
For those interested in Stac Pollaidh's extraordinary landscape and the Geopark, the nearby Knockan Visitor Centre will provide you with a wealth of information.
