Fairy Glen, Rosemarkie
| Distance | Approximate Time | Height Gain | OS Map |
| 2 kms | 01:00 (hrs:mins) | 75 metres | Explorer 432: Black Isle |
Description
From Rosemarkie the path follows the Rosemarkie Burn, climbing 75m to reach the waterfalls. Quite a good path; muddy in places. There are earth pillars in the gorge, left as the burn eroded soft deposits, but they are hard to find amongst the dense vegetation. From the upper waterfall you have the choice of returning to Rosemarkie either by your outward path or by walking down the A832 (requires care; it's narrow and twisty).
Access Info
Take the A832 out of the north-east end of Rosemarkie; soon after passing the Plough Inn you reach the car park, on your right(735577).
Additional Info
In the early 19th century the Fairy Glen was known as St Helena; and some weeping willows from Napoleon's grave were planted there.....
