Rubha Reidh to Camas Mor
| Distance | Approximate Time | Height Gain | OS Map |
| 7 kms | 03:20 (hrs:mins) | 350 metres | Explorer 434: Gairloch & Loch Ewe |
Description
On the rocky promontory of Rubha Reidh stands Rua Reidh Lighthouse (Rua is an alternative spelling for Rubha) - now used as an outdoor centre, hostel and bed and breakfast.
This route runs from the lighthouse along the top of the cliffs to above the beautiful sandy bay at Camas Mor. From there you can drop down past the little bothy (which is full of character) and return by the beach and cliffs and a fairly steep climb back up to the outward route. If the tide is too far in, the return is by the outward route. Although the distance may be short, the amount of up and down involved makes it more effort than you expect.
Enjoy fabulous views across to Skye to the south-west and the mountains behind Ullapool to the north-east.
Access Info
The start point is reached by following the unclassified road north-west from Gairloch through Strath and Big Sand. The public road stops some way short of the lighthouse and this would add about 5km to the total distance. However, access is available to traffic visiting the lighthouse.
