Description
There are a number of possible routes up Ben Loyal with, for example the route from Lettermore on Loch Loyal being quite popular. However, on balance, the route from Ribigill just south of Tongue is probably the best.
A short section along tracks is followed by a climb up a fairly well defined path towards the Bealach Clais nan Ceap before it swings westwards an up towards the main top - An Caisteal (the Castle). There are excellent views ahead to the rocky tors of Ben Loyal itself and backwards over the Kyle of Tongue.
Access Info
There is some parking at the end of the track to Ribigill, about 3km south of Tongue. There is no public transport on this minor road but it is possible to walk from Tongue adding about 90 minutes to the trip.

The SMC guides The Corbetts and The North-west Highlands give excellent descriptions.
