Description

Sandwood Bay and the sea stack of Am Buachaille in Sutherland

This is not a formal marked route but rather a challenging route for the experienced walker. Starting from Banavie near Fort William the described route takes walkers through some of the wilder areas of the Northern and Western Highlands to Cape Wrath at the far North West corner of the Scottish mainland, passing stunning Sandwood Bay on the way. There are long stretches through wild country without accommodation so travelling with a tent or using bothies is essential.

Access Info

The route begins in the Highland town of Fort William. Public transport links to Fort William are frequent via either First Scotrail or by Scottish Citylink bus services

Additional Info

A full description of the route is available in the Cicerone guide - North to the Cape: A Trek from Fort William to Cape Wrath, which you can purchase by visiting the Cicerone website.
