Daviot Wood Walk 3

Distance Approximate Time Height Gain OS Map
3.5 kms 01:00 (hrs:mins) 90 metres Explorer 416: Inverness, Loch Ness & Culloden

Description

Daviot, about two miles south of Inverness, has many pleasant walks and this is one of the best. Although short in itself, any of several waymarked adjacent walks can be added to fill a morning or afternoon. The paths are all good, varied in texture and pass through stands of Scots pine, larch and spruce and traverse open areas. Boots would be most comfortable and the walk is suitable for all ages (and dogs).

Access Info

At Daviot, turn off the A9 into the village. The car park is a few metres south of the school (722392).

Additional Info

Readers of the novels of the late Alistair Maclean might like to know that he lived here in Daviot as a boy. His father (buried in the churchyard) was Daviot Parish Minister. A commemorative service was held in the little church soon after the novelist's death in 1987.
