Description
This is a coastal walk of great variety. It starts at the estuary of the River Ythan and passes over sand-dunes to the seashore. After leaving the seashore it follows a coastal cliff path to the old fishing village of Collieston. It is an area rich in both flora and fauna. The return route is more inland over old sand-dunes.
This walk starts near the mouth of the River Ythan. After following the side of the river the path leads over sand dunes to the sea shore. It is an area rich in bird life and some parts of the dunes are restricted in the breeding season. Continuing northwards along the beach of golden sands, the route then goes inland slightly to follow a coastal path past quiet bays and cliff tops, to the village of Collieston. The return route through the nature reserve passes near a visitor centre then takes a more inland route back to the car park over old sand dunes. It is an area with a great diversity of both bird and plant life.
