Description

Ben Vane (916m) is one of four Munros sitting amongst a group of mountains which have long been known collectively as the Arrochar Alps.

This walk starts at the tourist car park on the A82 by Sloy Power Station. It approaches Ben Vane on a well made road via Inveruglas and Corriegrogan before taking to the steep and rocky slopes of the mountain. Return is by the inward route.

Access Info

The car park lies aproximately 6km north of Tarbet on the A82. There are daily buses and trains from Glasgow and the nearest train station is at Ardlui 6km north of the start point and Tarbet 7km south.

Additional Info

The generating capacity of the Sloy Power Station at Loch Lomond is 130MW, the highest capacity of all the conventional hydro electric power stations in Scotland. During summer, there are boat trips on Loch Lomond and a ferry which crosses the Loch to Inversnaid.
