Description
Drive up the narrow road past a tea room to a car park. Walk down the left fork, marked 'Glen Finglas Dam - Private'. When you reach the dam, keep to the left to cross the cattle grid. Follow the path up to the top of the dam and enjoy the views.
Glen Finglas is owned by the Woodland Trust Scotland and lies within the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park. Work is well underway by the trust to restore the native woodland which once covered the glen. The Stewart Kings used to hunt deer and boar here and, before the reservoir was built, the glen supported a farming community.
Access Info
At Brig O' Turk village, take the narrow road by the Tea Room and follow up past the little walled graveyard, past the school until you come to a fork in the road - park where it is marked 'Glen Finglas Dam - Private'.
Additional Info
There was once a farming community on the floor of the glen and a large house called 'Duart' which was owned by the Stewart family but this was all demolished to make way for the reservoir.
