Description
Start at Polmont Station. Turn right and walk along the pavement beside the B810 for 200yds. Turn right once more, just before the canal, to reach the towpath. Follow the towpath for 3.5 miles to reach the tunnel near Falkirk. Take special care here as the tunnel is unlit and the towpath can be wet and slippy - a torch is recommended - use the handrail. Just beyond the tunnel turn right, pass under the railway and turn immediately right to reach Falkirk High Station.
Access Info
Start from Polmont Station on the B810 south of Polmont town centre. An alternative to the return walk along the towpath is to take a train. Falkirk High Station is close to the canal and has a regular rail service to Polmont and Edinburgh.
