Description

Route Map

Start from Dunblane Cathedral; follow the path beside the river around Laigh Hills before crossing the railway footbridge. Turn left at the second junction and bear left at the next to reach a gate by the railway. Follow the path over the hill and alongside the river, passing under the road and then the railway. Keep on the path nearest the river and cross the footbridge to follow the edge of the filed and cross a stile onto the road.

Follow this for approx 3km over the bridge into Kinbuck. Just before the railway bridge turn right down to the river, cross another stile, and go straight on to Ashfield. At the southern end of Ashfield cross the white railway bridge and follow the track across the field. Sand and gravel workings may confuse the way ahead but bear to the left below Whinney Knowe to reach the stile by the road side.

Turn right over the A9 (T) and then right again down steps and through a gate onto a path to reach a road. Cross straight over and follow the path into the park again. Turn left at the second footbridge to join Ramoyle, and right again to go down Braeport back to the start.

Additional Info

At the start of the walk you will go passed the Laigh Hills, a local play park before heading alongside the Allan Water to the village of Ashfield. This was once the site of a meal mill on a narrow part of the river where water power could be easily harnessed.
