The Scottish Mountaineering Trust (Publications) Ltd. has published a new guide, 'Hostile Habitats - Scotland's Mountain Environment', which will help hillwalkers understand more about the spectacular Scottish upland environment. This 256-page, hardback guide to mountain fauna, flora and landscape has been written exclusively for climbers and hillwalkers, by some of the country's leading experts in their fields.

'Hostile Habitats - Scotland's Mountain Environment', takes an in-depth look at the upland environment of the climber and hillwalker and is fully illustrated in colour with chapters and identification sections on climate, geology, landforms, plants, animals, birds, insects, human influences and conservation.

Edited by Mark Wrightham and Nick Kempe, the book has been published with assistance from Scottish Natural Heritage.

'Hostile Habitats - Scotland's Mountain Environment' retails at a subsidised price of £15.00 and is now available at all good bookshops.
